From California to Montana to Florida to Maine, hundreds of Department of Peace campaign supporters came out—rain or shine—to walk the talk of peace. On Saturday, September 15, 2007, participants in the second-annual "Walk for Peace" walkathons brought a message of hope and possibility to more than 50 cities in 24 states.

Some simply walked, others held concerts, fairs, and fundraisers, and all raised awareness of the deep need for increased efforts in violence reduction and prevention in general, and of the Department of Peace legislation in particular. We encourage increments of $5.00. All proceeds (-2.9%) transaction fee will go to the Walk For Peace, Torrance, CA Chapter. Contact the local chapter for a donation receipt.
For the last 50-odd years, every piece of plastic that has made it from our shores to the Pacific Ocean has been breaking down and accumulating in the central Pacific gyre. Oceanographers like Curtis Ebbesmeyer, the world's leading flotsam expert, refer to it as the great Pacific Garbage Patch. Do your best to recycle and donate to organizations that study and promote recycling programs.
If you would like to donate to this organization, we encourage increments of $5.00. All proceeds (-2.9%) transaction fee will go to the expedition. Contact the organization for a donation receipt.

"Albatross remains of adult with gut full of plastic (above). Notice the wide variety of bottle caps in this one. With smaller animals, more damage is done by smaller pieces. The plastic goes down the gullet quite easily. But since it is not digested, as in the original plan for all life, it gets stuck before exiting the stomach. There it sits to block the entry and digestion of legitimate food. Even the tiniest of pieces can cause blockages."
